Windows 10: One OS To Rule Them All

Windows 10 is truly the most amazing operating system EVER. It will not connect all your devices, but it will marry them together using what they call continuum. This is great because now you will be able to use your computer, tablet, and even your phone in the same exact way for every one of your apps. The UI looks the same because it IS the same. This has MASSIVE rippling effects on all your devices. Now you can connect a mouse and keyboard to your tablet of phone and use it as a desktop! How? Because they ARE desktops.
The same goes for your PC. if your shrink down your window size, the program will shift to the smaller screen view (phone view). Your monitor could potentially augment having multiple phones on one monitor!

You might be asking well what does this have to do with gaming? Simple: your Xbox One and Hololens will have windows 10 so you could use them like a gaming device, PC, Tablet, or Phone. It is the exact same code for EVERY device. This also means that you can play your videogames on whichever screen you want; console, PC, tablets, and (with Tegra X1) phones.
This is great news for anyone who has a TV and a monitor because now you can play your games on whichever screen you want.
The new DirectX 12 will also give the Xbox One a slight bump in graphics. This is due to more efficient manipulation of the CPU and GPU, as well as giving developers access to resources that were locked off in the previous versions of DirectX. So The graphics bump will only happen depending on the game engine used, and the developer's abilities.

This is only the beginning though. In the near future you will need only ONE device for work, home, and play: your phone.
Nvidia has already proven to us that you can use a phone for full-fledged video games. Now Microsoft has proven that you can use your phone as a desktop. So EXPECT to see an all in one phone announced in 2016 and I can promise you I will cover it on this blog...stay tuned.

Xbox Rolls Out A New App For Making Friends

Xbox has new app Overdog is the new way of making friends to play games with.

What do you do when you get a new game that none of your friends play?  If the game doesn't have matchmaking, then you're stuck playing single player.  Overdog will change this. You tell the app your interests, and it will find other players with the same interests as you. So now when you're playing with these new friends you can talk about the same things you like instead of awkward silence.

We are currently taking submissions for articles. If you want to write an article for the group then message it to our Facebook page.

Virtual Reality and the gamer

Virtual reality is a hot topic these days amongst gamers. Whenever people talk about VR,  the first device always referred to as an example is the Oculus Rift. well I'm not going to do that, instead I'm going to talk about the other lesser-known virtual reality experiences out there.
Many people want to try out virtual reality but because the Oculus Rift is always at the forefront they think that in order to "get the experience" you have to shell out hundreds of dollars. Here is where Google cardboard comes in.
All you need is some cheap lenses, some cardboard, & a phone. Kits can be bought on Amazon for a very low price. Anywhere from $4 up to $40, depending on the quality of lenses.
With the cardboard you can watch movies in a virtual theater. The screen looks like it is the size of a real movie theater screen!
You can also play virtual reality games, but I would strongly suggest having an Android controller like the Moga.
You might be thinking, "so that's the cheapest option, but what is the best? The Oculus right?". The answer is surprisingly no! The pc gaming giant Valve and HTC have teamed up and are making the best VR headset.
Their headset, called the "Vive", has a native resolution of 1200x1080, 70 sensors, and a 90Hz refresh rate! But here's the best part: instead of using camera tracking, like the Oculus does, the Vive instead uses built in lasers for positional tracking. This means that you can stand up and walk around your room and you will walk around in-game (Valve suggests using a 15 X 15 ft room).
The Vive will release late 2015 and will likely cost between 250 and 350 dollars.
So there you have it! The cheapest and the best. Which one are you going to buy, if any?

DLC Has Become A Joke.

DLC, or DownLoadable Content, for video games have become garbage.

DLC use to be the thing everyone wanted. You buy a game, play it, and love it. Then what? You keep replaying it until a similar game comes around, or maybe you get a second game! Then DLC comes along and says,"Hey! Instead of playing this game for the fourth time, here is a continuation. Or here is some new maps, game types, and guns. Just toss us a little money and were good".

Now DLC has become a nightmare. Developers plan to take part of the full game they created, cut it out, and sell it off to you for almost the price of a new game. WHY AREN'T THEY PUTTING THESE THINGS INTO THE GAME YOU BOUGHT? Developers are selling you "DLC" before the game even hits the store shelves!!!! "Hey, you can buy the game, OR you can buy the Season Pass!"
WTF?!?! Do these developers even have a concept of the words "Downloadable Content"?

So here is the proposition. Boycott all paid DLC, unless it's 10 bucks. Otherwise these big-name titles like Call Of Duty will keep F**king us over with their sh*tty $50 DLC that's only worth 10.
What other titles will jump on this DLC bandwagon? No one if we all just don't buy it...

Why Do People Hate Battlefront?

Apparently some VERY WRONG info has been circulating the internet, mostly from Reddit. It is a graph that compares the new Battlefront to the old Battlefront II. There are many mistakes on this chart and it was created off of only tiny pieces of information found in different interviews at Star Wars celebration.
REMEMBER:
  1. We have NOT seen a gameplay trailer yet. Only a cinematic trailer (using real gameplay).
  2. The game is in the Pre Alpha stage! Not even a Beta yet.
  3. This is a reboot of the Battlefront series. It is GOING to be very different from the original two; so STOP COMPARING!

This article was written only to those who are whining on Reddit right now, not to all those TRUE Star Wars fans.

Watch Dogs 2: It might be great

Watch Dogs was so hyped up. When released it fell very quickly. many people couldn't play it, especially the PC gaming community. Eventually Ubisoft patched it, but the patch actually reduced the quality of the game. When digging through the "Gamer Profile" for Watch Dogs we found a sinister truth. The game's "Deferred Fx Quality" was set to console in order "to reduce the stuttering".
WOW Ubisoft! Don't hold back on the PC master race.

Now Ubisoft is going to make a sequel? People bought the first one off the notion that it would be huge and ever-changing. Now that our dreams have been dashed, why would we buy into that again?

Because the game was still fun. Despite its many flaws, Watch Dogs was still fun on that first playthrough. If Ubisoft has learned from their mistakes then the second Watch Dogs could be the game we really wanted.

What do you think? Will you give Watch Dogs 2 a chance? Let me know in the comments!

How To Support Your Favorite Youtuber (without dipping into your pocket)

Well as it turns out there are several ways you can do this. These tricks can also be used on any kind of channel, not just gaming.
The first, and easiest, way is to just watch their videos. Just by clicking on a youtuber's videos they get paid. Not only because of the ads you see on the video itself, but also the ads off to the side:
The second way to support a youtuber would be liking their videos. The more likes a video gets, the more the video will show up in other people's feeds. This multiplies the first effect because now more people are watching the videos and seeing the ads.

The third way to support youtubers is to just click the ads on their videos. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS ONE. If you click the ads on all their videos their account will be suspended or SHUT DOWN. So do this last one only every once in a while, PLEASE!!! It would help the money get passed around a little more fairly.

RECAP
  1. Watch all their videos
  2. Like all their videos
  3. SOMETIMES click their ads

HALO 5: Guardians Might Be The End Of HALO?!?

WOW so you're probably here to see why I would think something as "crazy" as this, but in fact this idea is not too far fetched.
HALO started out making the first three a slow, grand shooter series. No sprint just pure wits and skill.
Then along came Reach. UGH...
Then came HALO Wars. Remember that? Sorry for the reminder.
Finally HALO 4 came on the scene. It was a return to Master Chief, newer HD graphics, and.....a sprint ability?!?! Where did this come from?!? Well they actually did try it out in Reach as an armor ability, but it wasn't forced onto every player such as in HALO 4. The HALO community got really upset over this and some people stuck to HALO 3.

Now with the upcoming HALO 5 Guardians many more HALO core gamers are mad because not only is their sprinting; but there is also boost, aim down sights, and THE ABILITY TO HOVER?!?! WTF???
Now obviously this new HALO has come about because of outside influences like Call of Duty, Counter Strike/Global Offensive, Titainfall, and its own internal influence: HALO 4. Will the new people that are drawn to HALO because of the changes offset those who are leaving?  "343" obviously thinks so because they even made a new game-type to cater to the up-and-coming genre of E-sports.
I am of course referring to Arena. It screams E-sports in every aspect. Now if HALO became as big of an E-sport as Counter Strike then this would be worth it for "343" but would this really be HALO? Yes, it would have the 'Chief in it. Yes, it would have all the guns (now with ADS). BUT IS THIS HALO?!?!?  NO!!  Where is the glorious campaign?  We will just have to wait and find out.
As Runner182 puts it: "These new features had better tie into this campaign..." Heres hopin'.

EDIT: As a side note HALO does have a movie, tv series, and now the russian online only version. these are other ways that 343 are making money and can funnel these funds toward their main course: more and more HALO games.

COD Black Ops 3 WILL SUCK?

Call of Duty is in trouble. They messed up on Ghosts and they did't do us right on Advanced Warfare. Critics say it was a pretty good game (IGN gave it a 10, Metacritic gave it an 80), HOWEVER the polls on Metecritic say it wasn't so hot; an average of 5.2. Why don't people like it?

Well here is where it gets dicey. Apparently COD favors the noobs and pulls back on the expirienced players. In ranked play your suppose to be playing with people of the same skill level as you, but that is not usually the case. What actually happens is you are put in with whoever is available  and then the hit registration is put up if your bad and down if your good.
Another issue is the ExoSuits. People like the conceps, but after putting in hours and hours the ExoSuit just becomes an annoying addition to the game. You might have shot a guy 4 times in the back but he will boost away and hit you once and YOU die.

So when Call of Duty teased Black Ops 3 people perked up. Would this be a return to the previous glory of COD?!? Sadly it seems not, because their web site has this to say:

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 deploys players into a dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare."
The words "future" and "humanity/technology" are what gives it away.

What do you think? post your comment below.

GTA 5 Mods Are Off To A Slow Start

GTA 5 is finally here for the PC, and the question of the week is: where are all the moders? Well they were waiting for the smartest of their group to give them the key to unlock the game for mods, but now they can already get it from a modder group in Russia. So get your eyes and fingers ready for the moding to come soon. So far the only mods are the ones made by this group (one is infinite health and ammo; and another is enhanced field of view), but more are on the way!

Higher graphics, framerate, or resolution?

Would you rather play your game at ultra settings in 1080p, or medium settings at 4K?
Would you rather play your game at 60 or 120 fps  in 1080p, or 40 or 50 fps at 4K?

Is 1440p really the best of both worlds? Which one of the three main factors is most important to you? Let me know what you think in the comments!

Phones Are Video Game Worthy?!? What is next for 2015?

Phones will very soon be top tier game worthy. The Unreal engine 4 demo, used for the launch of the Xbox ONE, was used again for this PHONE GPU CHIP!

Are you starting to connect the dots on this chip to the most current gaming news? Recently Windows has released their plans for cross buy and cross play between the Xbox ONE and windows 10. This is probably A part of the reason to release Windows 10 as a free upgrade. Imagine playing a game on your Xbox and your friend says, "Hey come over. HALO party at my place." What that use to mean was unplugging your whole setup and hooking it back in at his house. What that could mean now is you just walk in with your phone and a controller. Game parties are going to be able to be bigger than ever.

You might be thinking that that is just preposterous! Phones cant be as fast as a big console. That is where you would be wrong. The X1 uses 1/10th the watts to achieve the same performance as an Xbox ONE; as proved by the Unreal 4 demo.

In fact, the X1 be used to create a console that is BETTER than the Xbox ONE. Snail Games has proved this with their release of the OBox (AKA Online Box).

At the end he said the OBox can play games at 4K right now, and the Xbox currently cannot (though they shipped with an HDMI 2 cable capable of 4K, so that is something they want to be able to do). But the X1 is even better than than just 4K, because Nvidia says it can do 4K at 60hz (FPS).
This means that if developers were to put their games on the current consoles and the OBox, the OBox would have the best resolution and frame rate!! (excluding PC of course)

FOOD FOR THOUGHT...

HALO 4 Humping

Remember the old days of HALO humping? Did you do any in HALO 4? If not then you need to catch up on all the HALO humping! Here is a recent one from Will Game:
